BIRTHDAY PARTIES

A few weekends ago we went to a birthday party and I forgot to post about it.  It was Viv's little friend from Music Together (and my good friend Leah's son) Pax, who turned three.  There was so much to do it was so great!  Viv decorated a pumpkin, got a balloon character (Buzz Lightyear wings!) AND - this is the kicker - got her face PAINTED.  Yep, she sat still as her entire face was transformed into a tiger.  The makeup artist kept asking her if she wanted to be a "pretty fairy" or get butterfly wings, to which Vivi just kept responding "I tiger, grrrrowl!" (she's been obsessed with the tiger tattoo on my back, and note the shirt in the photos).

To keep in the theme of things with this blog (cause it's not my blog if I don't rant about all the stereotypes for little girls) the balloon animal guy kept literally trying to push a princess on her.  When she asked for a little spiderman sword (which he had just made for ALL the boys, and she wanted one) he actually said to her "Oh no, I have a pretty princess for you...".  Oh my gosh mister, give the kid her sword!  Don't worry, he heard from me!  And she ended up with the sword...

Is that not the cutest little tiger you've ever seen?

FALL FESTIVAL(S)

Last weekend there were festivals at both Bernal Heights and Potrero Hill (two neighborhoods very close to us).  It was a great weekend just being home and going to some festivals and having barbeque's in the backyard.  I've said it before, but October in San Francisco is something I wait all year for.  I love Halloween, and I love San Francisco, and I love October!

THIS IS ME.

I saw this on the Bleubird blog this morning, a fantastic daily read for me!

I was just having this conversation with Mitch last night.  I can't get anything done because I am constantly distracted.  And the little time I do have, I feel like I'm living just to cross things off my "to do" list.  I'm a list person, and I have several of them around the house, on my phone, god knows where else.  It's not a way to live people.  I'm aware of this.  It's just my list is SO darn controlling!  I may seriously try this tip in the video.  Absolutely brilliant.  Can't wait to see the movie The Future!

Lots of fun was had this weekend picking out pumpkins and getting the house ready for Halloween.  It is my favorite season and my favorite holiday.  It was a beautiful day, hot actually, and we found the perfect little farm not too far away.  We brought home a lot of pumpkins and had an all around good time carving, listening to music, and drinking beer (Mama and Daddy, and maybe a little for Vivi :).  We separated the seeds so we can have roasted home made pumpkin seeds.  Mitch carved a pumpkin in honor of Sam and it turned out perfectly.  I'll post a picture of it later.  Vivi drew the faces on the pumpkins.  This little family has had a rough couple of months, but this was just what the doctor ordered, and a perfect way for us to kick off Fall!

FALL.

It's my favorite season, and my favorite month.  Toots and I were enjoying some puddles and leaves the other day when we went to see Mitch at work.  I'm hoping October brings some needed peace and maybe some fun.  It's all about pumpkin patches this weekend so I'll have some pictures of us soon gallivanting around fields and going on hay rides - October kind of stuff.
