HE'S 40 (HAS BEEN FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW :)...

The party was a huge hit.  We all had a blast, got to see people we haven't seen in ages, and the photo booth - as always - was such a memorable way to capture the night.  My next post, when I get some time, will be to preview some of the photo booth pictures from Mitch's big 40th.  I'll include a link to look at all of them if you are so inclined.  Let me tell you, they are worth it!

We're off to Bodega Bay this weekend on a little much needed vacation, so I hope to get to it before then.  Otherwise, have a great weekend everyone, and THANKS AGAIN for coming.  Especially those of you who made a long trip.  We couldn't possibly express how great it was to spend time with y'all.

Much love,
Amber

MOTHER AND DAUGHTER.

My dad sent this to me, and OH MY GOSH.  She's definitely a combo of both of us, but I actually see myself!  I'm on the left, of course.  And I'm about 5 I think.  So there's a three year difference here.  My girl is big ;).

Thanks dad!

MITCH IS 40!

Today marks the 40th birthday of my husband, and since we got married when I was barely legal, that means that I've spent over half of my life with this man.  That's a lot of birthdays.  Mitch is not the kind of person who fusses over milestones.  We differ in this area.  I want to make a big deal out of the fact that he is leaving the thirties behind and he just shrugs like eh, it's a day like any other.  (That last sentence right there could sum up our entire marriage).  The first real birthday we spent together as a couple was his 25th birthday.  I was 18 and just became his girlfriend the previous summer, and I remember feeling like 25 was a really big deal.  Little did I know that I would be celebrating with him 15 years later.  Actually, I did know, in that way that you just know when you're meant to be with someone.

The last decade has been quite a ride.  It's definitely been more of a roller coaster, than say, a ferris wheel.  Ten years ago this year, we started calling San Francisco our home and this city is where we have "found ourselves" as a couple.  Last night I started thinking about this man and the last ten years and how I could properly praise him on such a big day.  He really hasn't changed much at all, and yet so many things have changed.  He's more handsome, that's for sure.  He's gifted in so many ways and I know he will change things for the better on his career path, and throughout his life.  He's an amazing father, and an incredible husband.  A person couldn't have a better friend.  He's given me my most treasured gift, Vivienne.  The night before last I wasn't feeling too great at dinner and so I didn't eat much, but then as we were laying in bed watching another episode of Parks and Recreation, I got hungry and mentioned wanting cheese toast.  He has always made the most incredible cheese toast.  Within seconds he was out of bed only to return with a big plate, just how I like it, light on the mustard.  This is what I keep coming back to when I try to sum him up.  There's no one else I could be on this journey with.  Nothing I want besides cheese toast.  After all the good and tough times, two homes, two cats, navigating depression and anxiety, two pregnancies, one child...I could go on and on... sometimes my love for him is almost unbearable.

Sometimes I have glimpses and memories of us as a young married couple, and of all the changes and times that we've been through.  After all of the work we've done to be together, after all of these years, I look at him and I look at my daughter and I can't believe I am here 15 years later sitting next to Mitch Weathers.

Happy 40th birthday Mitch.  I love you more than I could ever aptly express here.

Love,
Amber

30 MONTHS

Not the best pictures this month.  The chair was upstairs and I didn't feel like moving it.  I'll make up for it next month!

Dear Vivienne,

You are getting so tall!  This month hit us with another bad cold, and when I finally took you to the doctor the cool thing was getting you weighed.  You're 34.5 pounds!  And very tall.  Right on track from the very first appointment you ever had.  You are consistent babe.

I feel like in the last week you have grown so much.  Your face changed, ever so slightly, and your vocabulary and sentence structure are suddenly so grown up.  It's happening Toots, you keep moving towards independence.  I am having so much fun with you Viv.  You are definitely my little buddy and I could not imagine my days without you.  Sometimes we look at each other and just start laughing hysterically like we're sharing some inside joke (usually it's because we are).  You've started telling me things about life, about me, about your observations of the world -- in your own way of course, you will describe for me what you see.  It's absolutely fascinating.  I tell your Dad all the time that I must be the luckiest Mommy there ever was.

I'm keeping this one short, because it's late and I am still recovering from the cold you gave me ;).  I love you immensely and I am constantly struck by how that love can keep growing and growing.

It makes me feel completely content knowing that you are happy.  That's all I could ever want.

I love you sweet girl,

xo

HELLO SONG.

video
video
I have to sneak up on her so she won't quit.  She just plain kills me with cuteness and kindness.  Today, when I jokingly said to her, "Honey I need Daddy to come home and take care of me" she walked up to me very seriously, rubbed my back and said, "Iss ok Mommy, Daddy be home soon".  And then my heart swelled so big it exploded.

THE READER

video video
I finally caught Vivienne reading, well mostly.  She sometimes "reads" and sometimes makes up the stories.  Either way, I die.  This is first thing in the morning, while I get my coffee and try to wake up.  I am not a morning person...

Enjoy!
