The video I should have posted...

I can't get enough of these shots!  I love how she has caught on in this one, and screams at the end just like Daddy.  Adorbs.  (that means adorable)...

Finding shadows

It's been one of those weeks where I can't look at Vivienne without seeing how much she's grown.  Our days usually consist of so much activity and buzz that the little things almost go missed.  Almost.  Sometimes I catch a glance at her and it's as if I don't even know her, like my baby has been replaced by a toddler, who's been replaced by a human being.  She's growing up, getting older.  All of the thoughts and wonders, worries and magic of childhood are going to be hers to experience.  I love watching her discover and contemplate something as simple as a shadow.  Somewhere along the line we lose that innocence.  That uninhibited emotion that comes without all of the layers we learn to put up by getting older and wiser.

One day Vivi will grow up and have her own perspective on the world.  She'll make her own decisions.  And I will be there to remind her of all the lovely and magical things she once discovered.  And how magical it was for me to witness them by her side.

Vivi and her Nonno

We're alive!

OK, I am fully aware that this post is ridiculously melodramatic.  I know, I know, we have COLDS, not leprosy.  I promise, THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME I TALK ABOUT IT HERE!  Just go with me for one more post.

We finally came out of our Sudafed comas and stepped out into the light of day.  Here are a few snippets of today, hanging in the backyard.  My dad stopped by as he was already on errands in the city and we spent the evening in the backyard while Vivienne ran around showing her Nonno ALL of her toys and tricks.  It was gorgeous and HOT!  I can officially say that I think we are on the mend.  WOOHOO (for you guys too, so I will finally shut up about it already!).  I can't wait for warm weather in the backyard!

On Vivi:  shirt, Target / leggings, Gap (forever ago) / shoes, Salt Water Sandals (sun-san sweetheart)

And one more...

Because this much cuteness is meant to be shared

Today I got pretty sick, and Mitch took Vivi on a hike/walk (through a bird preserve) that he just discovered in our neighborhood (another reason to come on out to Bayview!).  I'm going to upload a butt load of photos in the next couple of days of their adventures, but this, my friends, has to be shared now.  I realize this blog has become ALL about the littlest miss Weathers.  What can I say, I guess she is my biggest interest and inspiration these days.  Yes there are a lot of other things in my life I could write about, but why?  I'm only sort of joking.  I'm trying to find a balance and post about things that don't always have to do with Vivienne (just most of the time, hehe), but it's really hard ;).

Enjoy this!

Sunday, the park, and other random images

birthday girl, Sara

Balloon siamese cat

Over the weekend we went to a birthday party for a two year old friend of ours and they had a person making balloon animals for all of the kids.  Vivienne wanted a siamese cat, after Sammy and June.  She LOVED it!

First blood

This is how we roll when we're sick.  It's been all about Rambo, with a little help from Sara's Silks and the new play broom.  What is not pictured is Mitch in his pj's, with a yellow Sara's Silk scarf around his head.  What a sport!

In the spirit of Mad Men

My handsome mister in our living room.  We have loved the mid century look for years now, and have really made an effort to fit it into our home.  It's finally feeling very finished in some ways.  This table and chair set we got from a furniture dealer that has provided a lot of the beautiful stuff that I love in our house.  (He's local and very nice.  I'd give you his information but then you might get a fabulous piece of furniture that could have been mine and well, I'm selfish that way.)  We've been OBSESSED with Mad Men lately and watch it almost every night after the Toots goes down.  We're almost caught up.  I would kill for some of the outfits in that show.  You also can't watch it without a little bourbon over ice.  I think Mitch did a good job at creating this effect in the picture above -- gotta love Hipstamatic.

Sick, sicker, and sickest

I am now getting sick.  And since this is my blog, you get to hear about it whether you want to or not.  If you are sick and tired (haha, get it) of listening to me rant on and on about sickness, now is the time to stop reading, go to another cheerful site, or whatever it is you'd like to do on your Monday morning.  I am going to try to post some pictures today about our weekend, including a What Vivi Wore series, but like I said, I am getting sick, Mitch is sicker than I am, and Vivi is the sickest of all.  Plus, we didn't do much that didn't involve watching The Princess and the Frog a bazillion times, some Yo Gabba Gabba, lots of sleeping and cooking, and mostly lounging around in my pajamas with crusty hair and skin.  We did manage a two-year old's birthday party on Sunday so I'll write about that later.

Happy Monday!

Spring!

Spring is here, and to commemorate, it's been raining for several days straight now with a bleak forecast to boot.  We've been spending our days in the house because both Mitch and Viv have this flu/cold thingy, so going anywhere isn't really an option.  Whatever it is, it's wearing out its welcome.  I made a giant vat of chicken noodle soup today so hopefully that will be the perfect cure and finally kick us into health.  Thought I'd share the cute little fort Viv and I made a couple of weeks back from some old Ikea packaging.  She loved it and even ate her lunch inside of it.  Here's to Spring and lots of fort-making moments.

Teacher El

Vivienne's most beloved music teacher.  The person we draw on the chalkboard every. single. day.  With glasses (don't forget the green glasses!).  The person she ditches me for every time and I end up cuddling BY MYSELF in class during the slow songs -- leaving me the only one in the room that doesn't have a partner.  She is obsessed with "her" Teacher El.  Doesn't leave her side the entire class, kind of obsessed.  Admittedly, we are a bit obsessed too.  She is an amazing teacher with more energy than I have ever seen in a person.  Period.  Vivi has learned so much from her already about the importance of music and finding the beat.  We heart you Teacher El!  Keep rockin'.

Tunes for today

I came across this song today from GGC, and I just had to share.  Perfect for this rainy, stormy day.
Hope you like it as much as I do.

Viv's book of the moment

So Vivienne is totally obsessed with the book Please, Baby, Please by Spike Lee and his wife Tonya Lewis Lee.  I picked up this gem of a book at a little shop in the city, after Mitch and I had our French food date the other day.  I had NO idea how much she would love it.  The illustrations are stunning, the words can be a bit blunt (which my child loves) but absolutely hilarious and totally spot on as far as a day in the life of a toddler.  I'm not exaggerating, we read this book at least 10 times a day, almost always 4 times per sitting.  Check it out!

I'm gone most of the day today for doctor appointments, acupuncture treatments, and some lovely alone time.  I had no idea how much I needed this, although I do wish it fell on another day when my little bird wasn't sick.  Oh well.  I'll leave you with some pictures of Vivienne on her way to music class with her dadda.  (I received these from Mitch, apparently she's feeling better ;)...have I mentioned how much I love when Mitch gets her ready?  I do.

This cracks me up

Yes, Mitch recorded a bunch of little videos for Vivi before we left for Sacramento on Thursday.  She LOVES to listen to videos.  She can navigate my phone almost as well as I can.  It's scary, and awesome.  I heard this little sweet video about 12 times on the car ride to Sac.

Lyla, Lyla, Lyla (I deleted the smiling one accidentally)

This sums up my dad whenever we're in town ;)

Hugs!
We went to see family for the weekend because Mitch was in LA for work.  We came back Sunday, Vivi packing a molar and a nasty cold.  I spent the morning at Target stocking up on cold remedies.  Lots of Vicks supplies (humidifiers, vaporizers, cough suppressants, cough drops), pediatric menthol stuff, lots of Vitamin C, lots of baby motrin and acetaminophen, some "mess free" markers and coloring pads, playdough, more stickers... did I mention it's going to rain for the next 6 days?  My little bird is sleeping soundly now, the smell of menthol drifting out from under her door.  I hope we kick this thing quickly because it really is sad/a bummer when babies get sick.

I'll be posting some book review stuff later and maybe a few "what Vivi wore" posts, depending what I have time to do in between nursing my little bird, cleaning the house and starting on my enormous pile of laundry.  Wow -- it may as well be 1950 around here, the way I'm donning my apron and getting to work!  I kid, I really do enjoy having the time to take care of everything without the pressure and stress of work.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

Yeah...I like stripes

Here we are, Vivi and I, both in striped dresses for Mitch's birthday party.  I have NO idea how this happened.  I do this a lot actually, dress her exactly like myself with no realization of ever doing it.  I love this photo that my friend Wayne snapped though.  It's definitely going to hang in my house.

More birthday pictures to come, when I get off my booty and upload them!  Sorry...

Kids are weird

And that's just how it is sometimes!  This is Viv TRYING to whine.  It's a new skill of hers, waiting until she has my attention and then pretending to whine.  o. m. g.
